We also do septic, site work, and driveways — always done right the first time. Donnie Partin started with one dump truck and one piece of equipment, and built an excavating outfit that serves all of south-central Michigan.
Donnie Partin started Partin's Excavating for one reason: to build a better life for his family.
He didn't quit anything to do it. He was working at Aeroquip, running screw machines and CNC machines, when he bought one dump truck and one piece of equipment and started taking on work. No big backing, no corporate parent, no safety net — just a man, a truck, and the willingness to work.
So he worked two jobs. Clock in at the factory, then run the excavating business around it — evenings, weekends, and every hour in between. Later it was Gerdau instead of Aeroquip, but the arrangement never changed. Donnie worked two jobs for roughly forty years while building this company one job at a time.
That's worth knowing about the man who shows up at your property. Nothing here was handed over, and nothing was rushed.
From that one truck, Partin's Excavating grew into a full excavating outfit serving all of south-central Michigan. Today the crew handles septic drain fields, basement and crawlspace excavation, footers and foundations, site prep, gravel driveways, water and sewer hookups, demolition, and more across 11 counties and 74 towns within a 50-mile radius of Concord.
The motivation hasn't changed, and neither has the standard: "The highest quality of work while keeping your cost at a minimum." That's not a marketing line. It's how a man with one truck and a factory shift built this company — and it's how every job still runs today.

From septic drain fields to demolition — 13 services, one crew, all of south-central Michigan.
New septic drain fields designed and installed to Michigan county code — soil evaluation, permits, and final inspection handled.
Diagnose and fix failing drain fields — from clogged lines and biomat buildup to full replacement when the field is done.
Full basement excavation for new construction — dug to grade, dewatered, and ready for footers at 42 inches below grade.
Crawlspace excavation for additions and new builds — graded, drained, and ready for the foundation.
Footing and foundation trenches dug to 42 inches below grade — straight, level, and on the layout.
Backfill around foundations and finish-grade the lot so water runs away from the building, not into it.
Stamped, colored, and exposed-aggregate concrete that gives patios, driveways and entryways the look of stone, brick or pavers at a lower cost.
Clear, grade, and prepare the lot for building — from raw land to a pad ready for the foundation crew.
New gravel driveways built to last — proper base, graded, and topped with the right stone for Michigan frost.
Regrade, re-crown, and add fresh stone to an existing gravel driveway that's rutted, washed out, or thin.
Site prep for modular and manufactured homes — pad built, access cleared, utilities trenched, ready to set.
Grind or excavate stumps and the root ball — cleared, backfilled, and graded so the spot is usable.
Safe demolition of outbuildings, sheds, old foundations, and small structures — down, hauled, and graded.
All cities within 50 miles of Concord, MI — 74 towns across 11 counties.
